Santa María de León Cathedral, also called ‘The House of Light’ is a Catholic church in the city of León in north-western Spain. Built in the Gothic style the cathedral was built in the 13th Century with modifications ongoing through the 15th Century.
The most striking aspect of the cathedral for me was its stained-glass windows. With at least 1,764 square meters of surface, most of it containing the original windows, it is one of the most extensive and best-preserved collections of medieval stained glass in Europe.
The Picos de Europa ("Peaks of Europe") are a mountain range extending for about 20 km (12 mi) forming part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain. The highest peak is Torre de Cerredo, at an elevation of 2650 m (8,690 ft). The mountains were so named as they were often the first point of land seen by sailors returning from the Americas.
