This gallery is an interwoven juxtaposition of 'parade and ceremony'. On May 1st there is an annual 'ceremonial' parade through the city by a diverse range of groups including unions, activists, students, and protesters. I would characterize it as colorful, loud, boisterous, and overall friendly but with a touch of menace (my perception of a large group marching towards me, shouting, concealing identity with sunglasses and hoodies). The following day I went to see the ceremonial changing of the guard; an opportunity to reflect on the similarities and differences in marching and ceremony.
